Dailey & Vincent In Concert at Three Rivers

A ShowMe Times Report

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. - The new sensational bluegrass duo Dailey and Vincent will bring its fresh new take on a traditional music form to the Southeast Missouri with a concert this week at Three Rivers College.

Dailey and Vincent will perform at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 3 in the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on the Three Rivers College campus. The program is part of the Three Rivers Patrons of the Arts series.

Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent became the most heralded new act in bluegrass as their debut album Dailey & Vincent (2008) and tour schedule introduced them to appreciative audiences. The group took home seven awards at the 2008 International Bluegrass Music Awards Show, including Entertainer of the Year and Album of the Year.

Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent have been bluegrass musicians throughout their careers. But, like the earliest icons, they also push the bluegrass envelope. Best of all, they've found the closest thing to brotherhood - a true musical partnership.

The duo received a GMA Dove Award nomination earlier this month for Bluegrass Album of the Year the their “all a cappella” gospel college, Singing from the Heart.

Award-winning bluegrass duo Dailey & Vincent received a GMA Dove Award nomination this week for Bluegrass Album of the Year for its a cappella gospel collection, 'Singing From the Heart,' on Rounder Records.

“Gospel music is near and dear to us, as in gospel music,” said Jamie Dailey.

The 42nd Annual GMA Dove Awards Show will be taped live at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta on Wednesday, April 20, and will air on GMC television on Easter Sunday, April 24, at 7 p.m. EST.

Dailey & Vincent are the current three-time IBMA Entertainers of the Year and Vocal Group of the Year. They also received IBMA Awards for Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year in 2008 and 2009, and they were awarded Gospel Group of the Year/Contemporary at the SPBGMA Bluegrass Awards for the last three years. They recently attended the GRAMMY Awards, where they were nominated for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for “Elizabeth” from Dailey & Vincent Sing the Statler Brothers.

Trans-Siberian Orchesta Coming to Region
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Trans Siberian Orchestra will return to the Show Me Center for one night only, performing “Beethoven’s Last Night” on May 12 at 7:30 p.m.

When Paul O'Neill first conceived Trans-Siberian Orchestra, his goal was as straightforward as it was ambitious.

"The whole idea," he explains, "was to create a progressive rock band that would push the boundaries further than any group before, following in the footsteps of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Pink Floyd, the Who...but take it way, way further."

With more than 7 million albums sold, TSO has inspired generations of fans to rediscover the multi-dimensional art form of the rock opera. On the road, meanwhile, they have become one of the world's top acts including a recent mention in Billboard magazine as one of the top touring artists of the past decade. With a $20 million-plus production that has played to over 7 million people in 80+ cities, selling more than $280 million worth of tickets.

"I wanted to take the very best of all the forms of music I grew up on and merge them into a new style," O'Neill says. "Basically I was building on the work of everybody I worshipped: the rock opera parts from bands like the Who; the marriage of classical and rock from bands like Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Queen; the over-the-top light show from bands like Pink Floyd...I always wanted to do a full rock opera with a full progressive band and at least 18 lead singers."
